2013 Was an Amazing Year!
In March, I played my first show after my brain injury, on stage at South by Southwest, the largest music festival in the world!

Later that month, I moved from my mother’s house to my own apartment within a community of mostly brain injury survivors. While I can understand the idea of being surrounded by brain injury survivors intimidating for some, this is exactly where I want to be. Survivors tend to be some incredible people with miraculous stories and an admirable disposition of hope and tenacity. I enjoy providing my own insights while receiving insight from other survivors as well as their caretakers and loved ones.
PFX
Immediately after moving, I was given the opportunity to meet dozens of inspiring medical practitioners by working with PaleoFx, which just so happened to be held within walking distance of my new apartment.

.The League
On May 8th of this year, I published my second anniversary blog post, a huge landmark and personal achievement for me! Shortly after came an exciting new opportunity to attend the Writers’ League of Texas 2013 Editors and Agents Conference. The Conference gave me incredible insight into publishing while also introduced me to individuals excited to lend a hand in my own publishing process. It was a lot of fun hanging out with Chuck Sambuchino, who writes and edits “Chuck Sambuchino’s Guide To Literary Agents Blog” for Writers’ Digest.

Functional Thought
After beginning courses at Austin Community College, I was invited to attend the International Conference on Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine in Portland, OR. While at this conference, Dr. Alex Vasquez invited me on stage and I had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of medical practitioners and students about brain building nutrition (food for thought).
A KICKSTART!
Returning home from the conference, I decided it was time to launch the Kickstarter campaign that my friend Ewen (www.CoolCatProductions.com) and I had been working hard on for months. As you may know, the Kickstarter was successful and my story went viral. By October 2017 (at the latest), I will be publishing Lights, Coma, Action!
